2024 DISNEY DATA & ANALYTICS WOMEN AWARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. SUBMISSION PERIOD: Application acceptance begins March 5, 2024 at 12:00 a.m. ET (MIDNIGHT) and ends April 20, 2024 at 2:59 a.m. ET.

  2. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Applicants will receive consideration for the award based on the eligibility and selection criteria set forth in these terms and conditions, and without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other basis prohibited by federal, state, or local law. Applying for or being selected as a recipient of the award, and/or participating in any Disney Data & Analytics Women events, is not a guarantee of any internship or employment opportunity with The Walt Disney Company or its subsidiary and affiliated companies.

  3. ELIGIBILITY: Eligible applicants must: (a) be 18 years of age or older; (b) be a legal resident of the 48 continental United States or D.C.; (c) be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or have graduated on or after December 1, 2023 from an accredited college or university in the United States; (d) have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 in your current program (or, from the program from which you graduated on or after December 1, 2023); and (e) if selected as an award recipient, agree to present your project at the 2024 Disney Data & Analytics Conference. Any individuals (including but not limited to employees, consultants, independent contractors, and interns) who have, within the past six (6) months, performed services for Disney Worldwide Services, Inc. ("Disney"), any organizations responsible for sponsoring, advertising or promoting the Disney Data & Analytics Conference and/or the Disney Data Analytics Women Award, and/or their respective parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, and immediate family and household members of such individuals, are not eligible to apply. "Immediate family members" shall mean parents, step-parents, children, step-children, siblings, step-siblings, or spouses, regardless of where they live. "Household members" shall mean people who share the same residence at least three (3) months a year, whether related or not. Void where prohibited or restricted by law

  4. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Eligible applicants must complete and submit an online application at https://www.disneydataconference.com/ddaw/ with the following information:
    • (1) Your current transcript(s) from undergraduate and graduate programs;
    • (2) An essay of 500 words or less on why you are passionate about data & analytics and women in STEM roles;
    • (3) Your resume/CV including details of your education, work experience, and any extracurricular activities and achievements; and
    • (4) A PDF version of a poster (36"x24” horizontal) summarizing an original Do-It-Yourself quantitative analytics project you have previously developed with the following components: problem to solve; methodology; citations of all data sources used; and results. Your poster should summarize a project that has results that can take forms such as a mobile app, a website, a prediction model, or some analytics results that give insight/guidance into your research question. Your project can be for a class, math/programming competition, or just for fun, and it must be testable, reproducible, and use analytical methods such as statistical tests, machine learning, optimization, or simulation. Applicants must submit a poster following the previous guidelines because final winners will share the poster during the conference.

  5. LIMITATIONS: Limit one (1) application per person. Your application must be received by April 20, 2024 at 2:59 a.m. ET. Applicants that submit incomplete applications, fail to submit their applications on time, or who do not meet all eligibility criteria will be disqualified.

  6. RECIPIENT SELECTION: Disney will review and score eligible applications based on the following weighted criteria: originality of project (25%); quality of essay (25%); quality of project (25%); data analytics and programming skills demonstrated in project (15%); and data analytics skills demonstrated in transcript and resume/CV (10%). The application(s) with the highest score(s) will be selected as potential recipient(s) for the award. In the event of a tie, the applicant with the highest score in the “originality of project” criterion above will be selected as a potential recipient of the award. If an additional tie-breaker is still needed, the applicant with the highest score in the “quality of essay” criterion above will be selected as a potential recipient of the award

  7. RECIPIENT NOTIFICATION: A representative of Disney will notify the potential award recipient(s) via telephone, virtual conference call, and/or email on or about June 21, 2024. If a potential award recipient is unavailable to travel during the designated timeframe for any reason, is unable or unwilling to participate in the award as set forth in these terms and conditions, and/or declines the award for any other reason, their award will be forfeited without compensation of any kind and an alternate award recipient will be selected based on the applicant who has the next highest score (time permitting).

  8. AWARD(S): Four (4) awards are available. Each award includes: (a) registration for the 2024 Disney Data & Analytics Conference (value $2,899), (b) round trip coach-class air transportation from a major commercial airport near the award recipient's residence in the continental United States to the Orlando International Airport (estimated value $500), (c) ground transportation between the Orlando International Airport and the Walt Disney World® Resort (estimated value $100), (d) four (4) consecutive nights hotel stay at the Walt Disney World® Resort (estimated value $800), (e) meals at the 2024 Disney Data & Analytics Conference or otherwise (when meals are not provided at the 2024 Disney Data & Analytics Conference, offsite meals with designated Disney employees) (estimated value $300), (f) a networking lunch dedicated to Disney Data & Analytics Women, and (g) Disney's printing and showcasing each winning project summary poster at the 2024 Disney Data & Analytics Conference. AWARD MUST BE REDEEMED FROM SEPTEMBER 8, 2024 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 12, 2024. If an award recipient's residence is located two hundred fifty (250) miles or less from the Walt Disney World® Resort, then Disney will provide a $200 gift card to subsidize the costs of ground transportation in lieu of air transportation. Disney shall determine air transportation, ground transportation between the Orlando International Airport and the Walt Disney World® Resort, hotel accommodations and offsite meals in its sole discretion. Air transportation, ground transportation and hotel accommodations are subject to availability and certain regulations, conditions and restrictions may apply. Once travel and hotel accommodations have been confirmed, no changes will be allowed except by Disney. Disney will not replace any lost, mutilated or stolen tickets, travel vouchers, certificates or gift cards. Airline tickets issued in conjunction with the award are not eligible for frequent flyer miles, and no code share flights may be used. No one-way trips or upgrades allowed. Unless otherwise necessitated by Disney, no stopovers are permitted on air transportation tickets issued as part of the award; if a stopover otherwise occurs, the award will terminate and full fare will be charged from the stopover point for the remaining flight segment(s), including the return. Award recipient(s) are solely responsible for any and all baggage charges, taxes and any other charges incurred after or in connection with the issuance of airline tickets. Certain documentation may be necessary for travel and the hotel stay, such as photo identification, passport and/or other requirements. Award recipient(s) are solely responsible for any documentation and requirements and determining applicable procedures and restrictions. Photo identification and credit card or cash deposit may be required at the Walt Disney World® Resort check-in for incidental charges (e.g., room service, use of telephone/IT services, laundry and all other optional extra services not provided within each award). In the event an award recipient engages in behavior that, as determined by Disney in its sole discretion, is obnoxious or threatening, illegal or that is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, Disney reserves the right to terminate the award or other applicable experience(s) early, in whole or in part, with no further compensation. Award recipient(s) agree to comply with additional codes of conduct that may apply to certain elements of the award. Award(s) cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion or offer. Award elements may not be separated. All taxes are solely the responsibility of the award recipient(s). Award recipient(s) are not entitled to exchange or transfer of award(s) or to obtain cash or other substitutes. Disney may substitute the award or portion thereof of equal or greater value. Any portion of any award not accepted or used will be forfeited All expenses not specifically mentioned herein are not included and are solely each award recipient's responsibility. Certain parks, hotels, restaurants and other offerings may be modified or unavailable, limited in capacity and subject to limited availability or closure, and offerings are not guaranteed.

  9. PRIVACY POLICY: By participating in the Disney Data Analytics Women Award and/or submitting your application and project, you acknowledge that personal information submitted is subject to Disney's privacy policy and if applicable, certain US state privacy rights.   10. REPRESENTATION AND WARRANTY: By submitting your project, you warrant and represent that: (a) your project does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other legal or moral rights of any person or entity; (b) you own all rights to your project, including without limitation, copyrights; and (c) publication of the project via various media will not infringe on any third-party rights.

  11. GRANT OF RIGHTS: By applying for an award, you grant Disney Worldwide Services, Inc. and its parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, and their respective successors and assigns (collectively, the "Disney Entities"), the right to use (a) your essay and project summary poster (or portion thereof) and (b) your name, address (city and state), voice, likeness, photograph, biographical information and/or statements about this award program, in perpetuity, without notice, requirement of permission, attribution or compensation, for any commercial, promotional or other purpose throughout the universe in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, in all languages and in all versions, except where prohibited by law. Your essay and project summary poster may be edited, adapted, modified and/or used to create derivative works by any Disney Entity in its sole discretion.

  12. RELEASE: By applying for an award, you release and hold harmless the Disney Entities from any and all liability for claims, injuries, losses or damages of any kind, resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in this award program.

  13. DISPUTES: You agree that all disputes, claims and causes of action at law or in equity arising out of or connected with this this award program shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these terms and conditions, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Florida.
